About Localtools

Localtools is a collection of small, free tools for everyday tasks: working out dates and ages, counting words, compressing images, testing a keyboard or webcam, and similar jobs that should take seconds, not a sign-up form.

Localtools is built and maintained by an independent developer based in South Korea.

How the tools work

Every tool runs entirely in your web browser. When you pick a date, type text or drop an image, the work is done by code running on your own device. Nothing you enter is sent to a server, and there is no account to create. Once a page has loaded, most calculators and tests keep working if your connection drops.

What we aim for

• Open the page, use the tool. The tool is the first thing on every page, with sensible defaults already filled in.
• Explain the result. Each page describes how the calculation or test works, so you can check the answer yourself. Each tool’s calculations are verified by automated tests.
• Respect your privacy. No uploads, no tracking of what you type, and clear information about advertising in our Privacy Policy.

How the site is funded

The tools are free because the site shows advertising. Ads are kept apart from the tools themselves so they never get in the way of using them.
