Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains what information is processed when you use Localtools, why, who else receives it and what choices and rights you have.

Who is responsible

Localtools (localtools.co) is run by an independent developer based in the Republic of Korea (the “operator”, “we”). The operator is the controller of the personal information described here and also acts as the person responsible for privacy (data protection contact). Contact: [email protected].

In short

  • Tools run in your browser. Your files, text and other inputs are not uploaded to us or anyone else.
  • We have no accounts, sign-ups or server-side database.
  • Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs. If you email us, we receive your email. We also count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies.
  • When ads or analytics are enabled, Google uses cookies and similar technologies, with your consent where the law requires it.

What stays on your device

Images you compress or convert, text you count, dates and numbers you enter and the results are processed by code running on your device. They are never sent to our servers or to anyone else. We cannot see them.

A few tools save data in your browser’s local storage so you can pick up where you left off. It stays on your device and is never sent to us:

  • Word Counter: your draft text.
  • Typing Speed Test: your recent results (speed, accuracy, date).
  • CPS Test and Reaction Time Test: your best score.
  • Spin the Wheel: whether sound is on or off.
  • Time Calculator (time card): the times, breaks, pay rate and overtime settings you entered.

You can delete this data at any time with the tool’s clear button (where there is one) or by clearing this site’s data in your browser.

Share links. Spin the Wheel’s “Copy link” puts your list in the link itself, after the # sign. Browsers do not send that part of a link to servers. Anyone you give the link to can see the list.

Copy buttons write text to your clipboard only when you click them. We do not read your clipboard.

Camera and microphone. The Webcam Test and Microphone Test ask your browser for permission first. Video and audio are processed on your device. A test recording or snapshot is kept only in your browser’s memory for playback or download, is never transmitted, and is gone when you close the page. You can withdraw the permission in your browser settings at any time. The White Screen tool may use full screen and keep the screen awake; this involves no personal data.

Information processed when you visit or contact us

The legal bases below are those of the GDPR, the UK GDPR and Brazil’s LGPD; other laws use similar grounds.

Hosting and security logs

  • Information: IP address, browser and device type, page requested, date and time.
  • Purpose: deliver the site, protect it against abuse and fix errors.
  • Legal basis: legitimate interests (security and operation of the site).
  • Retention: kept by Cloudflare for a limited period under its own policy. We do not combine logs with other data.

Visit statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics)

  • Information: page address, referring site, approximate country, device and browser type, page load timings. No cookies and no identifiers are stored on your device, and visitors are not tracked across sites.
  • Purpose: count visits per page and keep the site fast.
  • Legal basis: legitimate interests (understanding use of the site in a privacy-friendly way).
  • Retention: aggregated by Cloudflare under its own policy.

Email you send us

  • Information: your email address, your name if you give it, your message and any attachments.
  • Purpose: reply to you and handle your request (bug reports, questions, privacy requests).
  • Legal basis: legitimate interests in answering you, or steps you ask us to take.
  • Retention: one year after our last reply to you, then deleted. You can ask us to delete it sooner.

Advertising (when ads are shown)

  • Information: cookie and device identifiers, IP address, pages viewed, ad interactions, approximate location.
  • Purpose: show and measure ads and prevent ad fraud; personalised ads where allowed.
  • Legal basis: consent where required (EEA, UK, Switzerland); elsewhere legitimate interests or as local law permits.
  • Retention: set by Google’s policies and cookie lifetimes.

Analytics (only if enabled)

  • Information: page address (without anything after ? or #), approximate country, device and browser type, cookie identifier. Never anything you enter into a tool.
  • Purpose: understand which pages are used and how the site performs.
  • Legal basis: consent where required; elsewhere legitimate interests.
  • Retention: limited by the data retention setting of Google Analytics.

Using the tools themselves requires no personal information. Where the law asks for a basis, local processing on your device needs none from us because we receive nothing.

IndexNow. When pages change, we notify search engines (such as Bing and Naver) through IndexNow. Only page addresses are sent, never information about visitors.

Advertising cookies

When ads are shown, they are served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see an ad, measure performance and, where permitted, show ads based on your interests and visits to this and other websites.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, and out of some third-party vendors’ cookies at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu.

See How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Your choices. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, advertising and analytics cookies stay off until you choose in the consent message (Google Consent Mode). When ads are shown, a “Privacy settings” link appears in the page footer so you can change your choice at any time. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser; the tools keep working without them.

Who receives information

We do not sell personal information for money, and we share it only with these service providers:

  • Cloudflare, Inc. (USA): hosting, content delivery, security and email forwarding (Cloudflare Email Routing). Cloudflare privacy policy.
  • Google (Google LLC, USA; Google Ireland Limited for Europe): the mailbox our email is forwarded to (Gmail), and AdSense and Analytics when enabled. For advertising, Google also acts as an independent controller. Google privacy policy.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

International transfers

The operator is in the Republic of Korea, which the European Commission and the UK recognise as providing adequate protection, and Cloudflare and Google process data in the United States and other countries where they operate. Information therefore leaves your country when you visit the site or email us. These companies protect such transfers with safeguards recognised by law, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and, where they are certified, the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss extensions.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, restrict or object to its use, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time (this does not affect earlier processing). Email [email protected]. We reply within the time required by law and may ask for details to confirm the request is yours. Because we do not run accounts, the only data we can usually find is your email; for ad and log data we will help you reach Google or Cloudflare.

You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example the one where you live or work (in the EU), the ICO (UK), the ANPD (Brazil) or the Personal Information Protection Commission (Korea).

We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing. Choosing which ad to show is automated by Google and has no legal or similarly significant effect on you.

US state privacy rights

Under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act, in the last 12 months the site may have collected these categories through Google’s and Cloudflare’s services: identifiers (IP address, cookie IDs), internet activity (pages viewed, ad interactions) and approximate location derived from IP. We do not collect sensitive personal information. Letting Google use cookies for personalised advertising may count as “selling” or “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. You can opt out through the “Privacy settings” link in the footer (shown when ads are on), or in Google Ads Settings. You can also ask to know, correct or delete information by emailing us. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

Security

The site is served only over HTTPS. Because tools run on your device, we hold no copies of your files or inputs. Access to emails sent to us is limited to the operator.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 (under 14 in Korea), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when the site or the law changes and show the date at the top of this page. Important changes will be noted here.

  • 2026-10-10: effective date of this version (adds controller, legal bases, recipients, transfers, retention and rights).
